To buy an iPad or Not...

I have to admit that I'm very excited about Apple's latest device coming out this weekend, the iPad.  It seems like the stars have aligned for a new type of device to capture the imagination and interest of the Couch-Computing set.  I already use my iPod Touch as my wi-fi, couch web device.  I pre-read some emails early in the morning (and late in the day) on it, stay up-to-date with my Google Reader items and love the NO boot-up time computing it offers for trivial inquiries like Weather, Stocks and Calendar!!!  However, the iPod Touch, as a device, is just a bit too small to be called comfortable.  With an iPad, it seems all these activities plus picture viewing, note taking, video watching and lots more could be incorporated into my new Couch Computing regimen.

And it gets better, if the iPad really does what we all think, it could also replace my iPod Touch (eBay=$100), Kindle 2 (eBay=$175) and MSI Netbook (eBay=$200) with it.  So basically, I could get the 16GB iPad with Wi-Fi and have <$100 out of pocket expense, if I can replace/resell all the aforementioned devices...sounds good, huh!  I just hope it's as good as the hype.

Microsoft?s Free Sync Service
By DAVID POGUE

Last week, I wrote about an underpublicized gem in Microsoft's Windows Live suite of free online and offline
services and programs: SkyDrive. It's a free, 25-gigabyte virtual hard drive on the Internet, accessible from any computer.

My readers gently pointed out that I managed to miss an equally spectacular feature: Windows Live Sync. It's
another very good, very free Windows Live service, for Mac and Windows, that everyone should know about.

The problem: you have a work machine and a home machine. Or a desktop PC and a laptop that's frequently out of the house. Or a family. Or a small business.

Series Seed (Legal service helping start-ups save $$$)

It seems Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz are pushing a system that is supposed to help start-ups work out the terms of their initial financing without running up big legal bills.  I checked out the docs and it's a very sound and cost effective way to get your start-up business going.  Good legal minds behind it too...

You really need to have virus protection..."going rogue" here is NOT good

Everyone who has a PC should use some sort of security software. I use and recommend ESET.
